About The Event
The Canterbury Forum will begin its three-program Spring 2024 series on Sunday, February 25 with a presentation by UNI History professor and public historian Dr. Tom Connors, titled "America in Ten Churches", guiding us on a tour through ten churches that represent Christianity in America from the late 17th into the 20th century, offering a regional, denominational, ethnic, and architectural balance that ranges from a Dutch colonial church along the Hudson to an Orthodox log church in Alaska. We're accustomed to looking at the diversity and complexity of Christianity's four hundred year-long history in North America through the lenses of its many denominations' beliefs and practices; examining them through an architectural lens affords a novel and very visual way of exploring that history.
Tom will present his program via Zoom; it'll begin at 7:00 PM on the evening of the 25th. Look for the link in the reminder email that comes out the week prior to the program.
